Located 7 miles West of the Loop and bordered on the north and east by Chicago, Cicero is the suburb nearest to downtown. Created Nov. 6, 1849 it was officially named "Cicero", after a town in New York State, on June 25, 1857 and originally contained 36 square miles. Berwyn and Oak Park were later formed from Cicero and more than half of its original mass was given to Chicago .

Western Electric established a telephone equipment manufacturing plant in the town in 1904, employing over 20,000 people, a number which exceeded the population of Cicero at that time. Cicero 's population increased over fourfold over the next 20 years, and since has continued to develop a very diverse population. Now composed of eight neighborhoods, each with their own distinct characteristics and names, the town of Cicero continues to develop its own unique history and serve as one of Chicago 's most well known suburbs.

Cicero businesses continue to thrive and strengthen the community.  This multicultural business network is a tight-knit one that is very active in providing significant contributions to the area as a whole.
